If you’re thinking about having a sober NYE but don’t want to get stuck drinking de-alcoholized wine all night, may we suggest mixing up a She Said mocktail?
The She Said was definitely a standout bevvy at our Shedoesthecity10 party last month. The combination of fizzy Perrier with fresh citrus and blended spices had us going back for another. And another. And another…
Try it out and you can thank us later.
She Said Mocktail:
1 oz spiced and salted pineapple syrup*
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
3-4 oz Perrier L’Orange
1/4 oz hibiscus grenadine*
Pour pineapple syrup and juices in a tall glass with ice. Top with Perrier L’Orange and stir. Drizzle hibiscus grenadine on top. Finish with freshly grated lime zest and garnish with a pineapple frond.
*for the spiced and salted pineapple syrup
1 piece star anise pod
3 pods green cardamom
1/4 Madagascar vanilla bean, slit and scraped
1 thumb organic ginger, peeled and minced
1/2 cinnamon stick
3 allspice berries
touch of fresh grated nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon sea salt, or more to taste
1 cup pineapple juice, preferably fresh but an unsweetened brand like Ceres works too
1 cup organic cane sugar
pinch of sea salt to taste
Simmer spices with pineapple juice for about 10 minutes, until aromatic. Strain, add sugar and sea salt and let cool. Store in the fridge for 3-4 days.
*for the hibiscus grenadine
1/2 cup dried organic hibiscus petals
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 cup organic cane sugar
Simmer hibiscus petals and pomegranate juice for 5 minutes. Strain, add sugar and let cool. Store in the fridge for 3-4 days.
From all of us at SDTC, we wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
