This Saturday, join Women Won’t Forget in a Day of Remembrance for Women Murdered by Men. It is the 25th Anniversary of the Montreal massacre, and the National Day of Action and Remembrance on Violence against women. The event begins at 6 p.m. at Philosopher’s Walk (south side of Bloor St, just west of Avenue Rd.) Bring a rose and a candle for a vigil – the ceremony will go on regardless of weather, and will include a Native healing ceremony, speakers and performances.
Women Won’t Forget is a grassroots feminist group that formed in the wake of the Montreal slayings on December 8th, 1989, after a vigil at City Hall. It was a collective effort to share the burden of grief, sorrow, and outrage. Recent events have only strengthened their commitment to continue fighting on behalf of women and children in our society.
Join to mourn the 14 women murdered because of their gender at l’Ecole Polytechnique in 1989, the over 1,200 missing and murdered Native women, and all women murdered by men.
