Experience Toronto Islands like never before!
Now in its fifth year, the Winter Island Artist Residency was developed to encourage people to experience the Toronto Islands during the less visited winter months. Now, the residency has fostered a new series of artwork, and they’re coming to the mainland! Alison Rowe, Sandra Smirle, Brendan George Ko and Addae Nurse will showcase their work; from a “map” of the ever-changing shoreline of Toronto Island, to stories collected from the Indigenous oral traditions of the Hawai’ian Islands, to a scavenger hunt of Toronto Island. This exhibit will give you a new perspective on the stories of the places around you. The Winter Island Artist Residency Exhibition will run from July 29 to August 19 at Artscape Youngplace (180 Shaw St).
