Women in Film & Television Toronto’s upcoming WIFT-T Showcase features 8 amazing short films by Canadian women working in the screen-based industry. The short works featured in the 2015 program were chosen by the Selection Committee comprised of nine WIFT-T members.
Molly McGlynn’s “Given Your History,” stars SDTC contributor Katie Boland (The Master, Reign) and is produced by Laura Perlmutter (who was nominated for a 2015 CSA). “Still” is a short by Slater Jewell-Kemker, just 22 years old and a recent graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s director’s lab. It premiered at TIFF in 2014 and tackles abuse and mental illness.
“Lines” and “Shooting Blanks” are two shorts by Amy Jo Johnson, who is making the move from actor (Flashpoint, Might Morphin Power Rangers) to director. “Lines” co-stars Enrico Colantoni (Remedy, Person of Interest, Veronica Mars). There’s also “Arranged” directed by Renuka Jeyapalan and co-starring Aaron Ashmore (Smallville, Lost Girl). For a full program list please see the WIFT-T Showcase page.
