This Sunday August 14 marks the 13th(!) anniversary of the big blackout of 2003. Where were you when the lights went out? Sometimes, without power to keep life-as-usual moving, we can actually find a great connection with each other! Celebrate this momentous occasion with a picnic, communal bike ride, foot parade and after party!
Bring blankets and goodies to share and meet for a picnic at Jimmy Simpson park (870 Queen St. E) from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. There will be samba, musical and dance workshops! Get ready for surprises on a bike ride at 8:00 PM or join the foot parade at 8:30 PM. And remember to bring supplies for the magical after party at 10:00 PM at a secret location!
Look forward to performances by Samba Elegua, Maracatu Mar Aberto, Blokoloko, Balfolk Toronto, Candy Apple Jazz Band, Freeman Dre & Marlon E.A. Chaplin, Rambunctious, Baque de bamba, Stilt Walkers, New Model Circus Army and more surprise guests.
It’s going to be a big one, don’t be late. Event is free. Get more info here.
