Kellogg’s Rice Krispie treats have been a favourite of mine ever since I was a little girl. My mom used to make them for birthday parties, or any neighbourhood get together or school bake sale, and I always enjoyed slowly pulling them apart to enjoy the gooey-marshmallow sweetness and Rice Krispie crunch. So when I was asked to be an ambassador for the annual #TreatsForToys program, it was an easy decision. Not only does this holiday fun involve a favourite snack, but it also gives back to children across Canada, because no child should go without a gift on Christmas. Also, it is super fun to design a toy out of Rice Krispies!
Whether you have little ones that would enjoy a no-bake day of recipe fun, or you want to get creative with friends while hosting a Gilmore Girls marathon, building your Rice Krispie toy treat is super easy. Trains and monsters are currently a big deal in our home, but the possibilities of what you create are endless!
Once you are done making your toy treat, upload it to TreatsForToys.ca or Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram or Twitter using the #TreatsForToys hashtag. For each #TreatsForToys uploaded, Kellogg’s will donate $20 to the Salvation Army, who will then organize the donation of toys to children in need across Canada.
To get started, see what what #TreatsForToys we built below. (As someone who rarely gets crafty in the kitchen, I am very pleased with what we made!)
