Enough with the sexist slurs, unwanted touches, aggression and straight-up inequality! Join the fight to help stop workplace sexual harassment – in the kitchen, and everywhere. Tickets for Kitchen Bitches are on sale now.
Inspired by Kate Burnham, who bravely came forward to share her story of sexual harassment endured at Weslodge restaurant, the Toronto food and restaurant community, spearheaded by restaurateur Jen Agg (The Black Hoof, Rhum Corner) is coming together for a one-day conference to “address the suffocating patriarchy we must all endure in the world and in the world of restaurants.”
In a short time, Agg has been able to bring together food writers and restaurant owners from across North America to help fuel the discourse. It’s an interesting and diverse group of passionate individuals that will undoubtedly cook up some important discussion and plenty of, er, food for thought.
Guests can also expect delicious eats and drinks, a performance by Amy Millan + friends, and a DJ set by Indie 88’s Raina.
Tickets are $50, with sales going towards making the conference happen. Leftovers and silent auction proceeds will be donated to a women’s shelter that wishes to remain anonymous.
