Very exciting news: The Warrior Emperor and China’s Terracotta Army will grace the halls of Montreal’s Museum of Fine Arts from February 11 to June 26, 2011. Over 1000 years of Chinese history are represented in this exhibit of more than 240 fascinating works, including many pieces that have only recently been excavated and some of which have never before left the Asian continent (and may not do so again for decades!)
The show-stoppers are ten larger-than-life terracotta sculptures and several rare bronze sculptures, accompanied by ornaments in jade and gold, swords, coins and adornments, architectural elements and military accoutrements from the imperial tombs of the Emperors Gaozu and Jing of the Han Dynasty. Have your art-history-nerd-hat in the ready position.
Admission fees are $12 (ages 13 to 25) and $20 (ages 26 to 64). Group rates also apply.
