When the beloved Bloor Cinema closed its doors, it was the end of an era of cult screenings (who hasn’t seen someone freak out in the bathroom during Darkside of Oz or pick popcorn out of a feather boa at Rocky Horror?) and nostalgic events, but it wasn’t long before cinephiles had reason to cheer again.
Getting a new lease on life and now owned by Hot Docs and Blue Ice Films, the cinema will be a home for documentaries in the Annex, re-opening on March 14th. They’ll be celebrating with free screenings of Hot Docs festival favourite WASTE LAND, on Monday March 12th and Tuesday, March 13th.
The official film opening, on March 16th, is Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey, the story of the man behind the muppet. For more info and to start getting excited, visit their website!
