On October 16th, come out to support Toronto’s only free multi-cultural film festival with a screening of Home Again, an award-winning film by Sudz Sutherland. Or, buy a ticket so a young member of the Regent Park community can attend!
The annual Regent Park Film Festival celebrates local and international independent film that relates to the community. The festival aims to create a cultural event that brings together the many diverse communities within the housing development.
This year’s festival takes place from Nov. 13th-16th, and you can help make it happen by supporting their annual fundraiser on Oct. 16th. The party kicks off at 6:30 pm at Daniel’s Spectrum (585 Dundas St. E.). There will be a screening of the film, a meet-and-greet with the filmmakers, and a reception with refreshments. Actors Lyriq Bent and Richard Chevolleau will also be in attendance. Tickets are $50.
Can’t make it out, but still want to support the cause? You can donate or—even better—purchase a ticket for a young Regent Park community member to attend the fundraiser. This is an amazing way to get kids involved in the arts, and give them a sense of the power of film to shape their community.
