Wanna get happy? Graphic designer, typographer, and David-Byrne-and-Lou-Reed collaborator Stefan Stagmeister has spent 10 years exploring happiness (because really, is there anything better to think about?), and presents his findings as a series of maxims, handwritten in unexpected places, like bathrooms and elevators, all over the Design Exchange.
The maxims, the bright yellow walls, and the typographic installations all attempt to immerse the viewer in the designer’s own experience as he experimented with his happiness using meditation, cognitive therapy, and drugs. He has taken writings from his diary and interpreted them in a variety of forms, all over the space.
The show runs until March 3rd, from 10 am until 5 pm (and 8 pm on Tuesdays!) at the Design Exchange, 243 Bay St. You can buy tickets here, or at the door.
