As SDTC queen bee Jen just said to me when we were talking on the phone, Come Up To My Room is just about the most magical thing you can do in Toronto in the winter. And this year the alternative art show is celebrating its 10th anniversary!
If you’ve never been to CUTMR, you need to go. Basically, talented artists come together to collaborate, creating installations in rooms in the Gladstone Hotel. Each one is unique and almost other-worldly, allowing you to feel like you’ve been transported to a bunch of different places all within the space of one hip boutique hotel. The event, founded in 2004 by artists/curators Pamila Matharu and Christina Zeidler, has become a staple art show in the city—and for good reason. And to celebrate its anniversary, CUTMR has created a digital archive that allows you to look back at all of the installations from the past 10 years. So kewl.
This year the project features nine room installations and 19 public space projects, and runs from Jan. 24 to 27. You can find all the details here. Trust us: you want to go.
