The Canadian Stage launched Elements of a Story this past fall as an opportunity for the arts-loving community to gather virtually and delve into the work and ideas of internationally celebrated authors and cultural thinkers. The event proved to be a warm and wonderful success and for their new iteration they’ve tapped the legendary Buffy Sainte-Marie, who will be leading a conversation next week (Feb 18).
Sainte-Marie has selected three texts to read from, and once you buy a ticket, you’ll be sent the reading list (ooooh, we do love the suspense!). Discussion will touch upon how the chosen works have impacted Sainte-Marie personally, how they collectively articulate the present moment, and on the importance of storytelling in the search for meaning in difficult times.
“Buffy Sainte-Marie is one of the great artists and activists of the last century – she has a profound and wide-reaching insight into the foundations of our country, and she has been a multi-disciplinary storyteller her entire life,” says Canadian Stage Artistic Director Brendan Healy. “I can’t think of a better person to guide us through some reading and discussion about how stories shape our lives and provide guidance in times of questioning.”
We can’t wait to see which books Sainte-Marie selected, and think it’s really cool that this event also has a Q&A with someone who is absolutely iconic, and a role model to countless individuals.
Tickets for the February 18th In Conversation event with Buffy Sainte-Marie are available at canadianstage.com now and are free to season pass holders. Single tickets are also available at various pay-what-you-can price points beginning at $15.
