A while back, whilst shopping at Rooney, I noticed a merry gent, paintbrush in hand, sitting in the storefront window. A double take confirmed that this was indeed not a mannequin, but a human, and a fetching one at that: Mr. Sign.
Specializing in custom, hand-painted logos, Mr. Sign, a.k.a Dave Arnold, a Montreal-based visual artist, is single-handedly rejuvenating the long-lost art of storefront sign painting. He paints windows, walls, signs, sandwich boards, chalk-boards and beyond for anyone looking to stand apart from the staid vinyl-lettering crowd. (Who isn’t?)
