Remember those final song jitters at the school dance, where you searched for the perfect person to sway along with to Stairway to Heaven (at least until you got to the fast part, where you both awkwardly bopped along to the beat)? Well, you can relive the prom without the angst this Saturday as Perpetual Emotion Machine Productions will host a very special “OMFG it’s Almost Spring” Edition of Slowdance Night in Montreal. It’s part of a trio of saucy events going on at Mainline Theatre this weekend, including Strip Spelling Bee 5 on Friday, and Crowd Karaoke on Sunday night.

For all you wallflowers, there will be a selection of comely “designated dancers” to ensure your dance card gets filled.  Queer, couple, trans and senior friendly, the organizers ask only that you dress to impress.

And remember the last time you got drunk with a bunch of friends and some song came on and you all spontaneously burst into song and it totally ruled?  Mainline is attempting to recreate those good vibes this Sunday with Crowd Karaoke. It’s easy: all you have to do is show up, choose a song to add to the playlist, and sing together on the dancefloor while the lyrics are projected in front of you and the music swells in the background.  Total Eclipse of the Heart never sounded so good.
