In the hustle and bustle of the holidays, with the crowded malls, the busy restaurants, the stressful family functions and the dark, cold weather dampening everyone’s spirits, it might be easy to forget what this time of year is really about: appreciating that which you’ve been given and the people whom you love. Thankfully, The Gratitude Tea, an annual high tea fundraising event, organized by the students at Centennial College, is here to remind you of what’s most important.
Organized in 2006, as part of Centennial’s curriculum, The Gratitude Tea is an event in which friends, family members, co-workers and couples can come together and give thanks to those who have played an important role in their lives. You’re invited to bring to the tea someone you’re grateful to have in your life and, if you like, share with everyone why it is you’re grateful for them. It’s such a sweet idea! Plus, you get to drink tea and eat yummy food, sooo.
This year’s Gratitude Tea is this coming Sunday, December 11th at The Rosewater (19 Toronto Street), so if you’d like to show a friend, a family member, or someone in your life how much you care about them, get your tickets here and go on and show some gratitude. Enjoy a silent auction from 12 – 1pm before the high tea and warm, fuzzy feelings begin and please bring along a “professional clothing item” you don’t wear anymore to donate to The Gratitude Tea’s charity of choice, Dress for Success Toronto.
It’s a great way to slow down, take stock and remind yourself of what’s important about the holidays, but it’s also a nice way to treat yourself and a friend. Relaxing with soothing tea, delicious food and reminders of love and friendship – what’s a better gift than that? (Ok, an unlimited trust fund… my student loan paid off… and maybe a pair of Christian Louboutins, ya, but OTHER than that.)
