Remember when the printing press revolutionized the spread of religious doctrine across Europe during the Reformation in the 16th century? Or, ya know, the time before the Internet (Dear everyone-born-after-1994: a) I can’t believe you exist in the same university as me now/I’m old, and also b) YES there was life before the Internet!) when people would buy newspapers for 50 cents and discuss the latest political tidbits at a local coffee shop? Sigh. Me neither, really.
Anyway, the point of this story is that for the last decade, Montreal has hosted the very awesome Expozine Print Fair (now in its 11th year!), the largest small press fair in North America. Over 270 creators from across Canada, the United States and Europe bring a plethora of publications (from graphic novels to comics to zines to actual BOOKS) to Montreal every year for your browsing pleasure. This fair is also an excellent opportunity to support emerging authors and artists, both locally and internationally.
Expozine 2012 will take place on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday November 18 from noon until 6pm both days, in the basement of the Église Saint-Enfant Jésus (5053 St-Dominique).
A full list of participants is available here! Entry is free. The company will be fantastic. Print, we still love you.
