Self-described as “a boiler room filled with 27 grandfather clocks, 27 birds, 27 horses and 27 angels typing letters to their mothers”, the Unsettlers live up to their name in more ways than one. Whiskey and accordions, contortionists and classical baroque all collide, bringing Montreal a turbulent, 11-piece organism that will invade the grand Rialto Theatre this Saturday. The veritable Narnia of Montreal’s music scene, the Unsettlers grant us permission to plunge into a fascinating, intemperate and carnival-inspired netherworld, if only for a few hours. Launching their much-anticipated double album ‘Oil and Blood’, this mega-band will be joined by guest songstress Amanda Mabro and a troop of suspicious characters from The Blue Mushroom Sideshow. The Unsettlers also have a contortionist on staff: the super-hot Andreane Leclerc (i.e. Creature). Just when you thought humans had articulated vertebrae for a reason – think again! Big band meets big top for what will assuredly be an epic, energetic and enormous performance.
7:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Rialto Theatre – 5723 Avenue Du Parc.
