Exquisite to watch and immensely moving to hear, the popular Met Opera Live on Screen in Cinemas series is an absolute treat and a movie theatre experience like no other.
The 2015/16 schedule is underway and the lineup is phenomenal. Plan ahead, find a date, buy your tickets and dress up: it’s not every day that you get access to the finest opera in the world! Celebrate it with your opera-loving friends, or make a special date with Mom, Grandma, or your opera-obsessed Dad!
The next performance is Wagner’s Tannhäuser , happening on Halloween at noon. James Levine conducts Wagner’s early masterpiece in its first return to the Met stage in more than a decade. Today’s leading Wagnerian tenor Johan Botha takes on the daunting title role, opposite soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek as Elisabeth. Westbroek adds another Wagner heroine to her Met repertoire after her acclaimed Sieglinde in the Ring a few seasons ago. On the heels of his recent triumph in Parsifal, baritone Peter Mattei sings Wolfram, and mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung plays the love goddess, Venus. SOUNDS SPECTACULAR!
