With a diverse cast of artists from across the world and a focus on body positivity, the Toronto Burlesque Festival is a must-see for fans of the art form.
This year’s festival takes place Thursday, July 26 to Sunday, July 29 and will feature seventy-five live performances at two venues: Revival Bar (783 College St.) and Mod Club Theatre (722 College St.). The lineup includes Embers & Ashes, a show mixing burlesque, boylesque and cirque; Geeks & Cheeks, where performers will bring your wildest fan-fiction-worthy fantasies to life; and Turnt-Lesque, a night of neo-burlesque that promises to leave you on the edge of your seat.
TBF will also be offering classes as part of their Burlesque University. Pinpoint and practice reliable “wow” moments at Wow Factor with The Lady Josephine, get tips from long-time Wasabassco Burlesque producer Sydni Deveraux at The Business of Burlesque, learn about Bob Fosse’s signature dance style at Fosse Jazz with Knox Harter, and explore your inner queen at Heels For Queens with Twinky Boots.
Tickets range from $15 to $30 for the classes or shows, or $125 for a weekend pass.
