Scotiabank Nuit Blanche took over the city this past Saturday night, proving once again that this “free nocturnal celebration of contemporary visual art” will keep you entertained from sun down to sun up. Thousands of curious people decked out in glittered masquerade masks and furry onesies scoped out over 100 installations in 5 designated areas across town. Scotiabank’s installation ‘Inspired Night’ turned Spadina & Richmond into a 100-foot digital walkway, where festival goers could become part of the art by posting a selfie using hashtag #snbTO.
Throughout the experience, spontaneous acts of street music, dance battles and live graffiti painting by anyone and everyone gave the streets a special buzz. Our night started with sharing a cab with grade 11 student Dexter to avoid back-to-back streetcar congestion and rode closures, and ended with curling up in a plush theater seat inside TIFF Bell Lightbox, watching a jazz band play over old Hollywood silent films.
