Fan favourite from this past season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Milk, landed in Toronto last night to perform for a very important cause. The Freedom Party raises funds for Rainbow Railroad, an organization that helps LGBT individuals escape imminent danger in countries where governments tolerate or support violence against them.
Last night’s Freedom Party was raising funds to specifically help two people at risk, friends of Jamaican-born Gareth Henry. Gareth, who was granted asylum to Canada from homophobic Jamaica himself, spoke of a female friend who identifies as lesbian, and recently both her and her mother have been assaulted and raped in Jamaica. You can donate and help sponsor a LGBT person seek asylum on the Rainbow Railroad website.
Dairy queen Milk was as big and bold of a performer as she makes out to be on Drag Race. She also was very friendly and happily met with gaggles of fans after the show. Local drag queen sensations Tynomi Banks and Scarlett Bobo started the night out fabulously with their performances. And yes, that’s Scarlett performing a flatulence-remix of “Let It Go” in the photos.
