Bang! Bang! Pow! Luminato is ON. For its 10th Anniversary, the multidisciplinary arts festival has done something that is cooler than anything we’ve ever seen a festival do. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Jörn Weisbrodt, Luminato has moved the vast majority of its programming into Toronto’s Hearn Generating Station. Get ready to have your mind blown.
Addressing a crowd of black-tie suits, the Festival’s golden boy (literally, his pants sparkled) talked about his vision and declared that The Hearn be renamed “the culture cave.” And so, like wild bats thirsty for blood, we took flight.
Luminato’s transformation of The Hearn is the largest cultural space, under one roof, in the world right now. Experience art, dance, theatre, food, and even choose to get sweaty doing a workout: it’s all here at The Hearn.
If there were ever a must-do in this city, it’s this year’s Luminato Festival. Good thing you have 17 days to do it. GO! Explore, play, dream!
