Earlier this year, we hosted a private screening and packed the theatre with style bloggers and fashion addicts who love a fun fashion fairytale. (That’s a genre, people. A really good one.) We knew it would be sweet and pretty, but After The Ball surpassed our expectations in every category: ridiculously funny LOL drama, smart dialogue, and super fun fashion. Yep, this flick is easy to fall for.

A classic Cinderella story set in the modern world of fashion, the film tells the story of recent grad Kate (Portia Doubleday), whose dream is to design for couturier houses. Although she is a bright new talent, Kate can’t get a job. No one trusts the daughter of Lee Kassell (Chris Noth), a retail guru who markets clothes “inspired” by the very designers Kate wants to work for.

Swallowing her pride, Kate begins to internship at her dad’s company, and quickly becomes tangled in a web of obstacles and booby traps, set by her ‘evil’ stepmother (Lauren Holly) and conniving step-sisters (Natalie Krill & Anna Hopkins). (Who are totally, totally hilarious in this role.) Naturally, no fashion fairytale would be complete without a steamy shoe room romance.
