You may have missed the concerts, but you don’t have to miss this show. Rise of the Rock Poster: San Francisco in the 1960s is on now on at the AGO; transport back to the grooviest decade.
Rise of the Rock Poster features 35 classic 1960s posters of some very recognizable names: Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Doors and more. Almost all of the posters are from 1967, a.k.a. the Summer of Love, and represent the forefront of the hippie counterculture movement.
Everything that was cool, young, rebellious and experimental came from San Francisco – especially music. These posters, which promoted music events and artists, act as snapshots of the era’s style, interests, politics, fashion and youth culture.
Rise of the Rock Poster: San Francisco in the 1960s is included in general admission, and AGO members see it for free.
