It’s Caribana week in Toronto, so what better time to sample some of the rums the Caribbean has to offer?
The newest edition to the Carnival event calendar, Toronto Rum Festival is a daytime event showcasing various rums while creating a true Caribbean atmosphere through live entertainment, competition, and food. The festival will feature professional samplings of recognizable rums found at the LCBO along with more exotic brands, which guests will then vote on for the “People’s Rum Choice Competition.”
Guests can also look forward to live steelpan by the winners of the Toronto Carnival Panorama, costume displays from the winners of the King and Queen competition, soca and reggae performances, Moko Jumbies (stilt walkers), and costumed dancers.
The Toronto Rum Festival takes place Sunday, August 4 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ontario Place (955 Lakeshore Blvd. W.). Tickets are $30 and include a sampling cup, five drink tokens to use at any station within the festival.
