For the consecutive second year, Bloor Hot Docs Cinema (506 Bloor St. W.) is teaming up with NXNE for a screening of ’80s cult classic Purple Rain, featuring the one and only Prince.
Set against the subculture of the thriving Minneapolis music scene, Prince plays a struggling musician who tries to deal with his hatred for his father as he falls in love with a beautiful aspiring singer. This Oscar award-winning film boasts one of the greatest soundtracks of all time and is sure to have you singing “Purple Rain” all the way home. The party gets underway Saturday at 8:30 p.m. with DJ Moe Berg and drink specials, followed by the screening at 9:30 p.m.
$12 advance tickets available online. There’s also a Doc & Beer combo that includes the screening, a bottle of Steam Whistle, and a large popcorn for $17.
