Stackt is about to get much more colourful because Montreal art festival MURAL is taking over Toronto’s shipping container market this week (28 Bathurst St.) for the MURAL Block Party, a three-day event offering visitors the chance to attend the live creation of murals, music, art exhibitions, panels, and more.
The block party kicks off Friday, August 30, at 1:30 p.m. with a panel discussion about urban art in Canada featuring Stackt programming director Eli Klein, MURAL director Pierre-Alain Benoit, Anjuli Solanki of STEPS Initiative, Steve Ferrara of Well & Good, and a representative from StreetARTToronto.
Featured artists include Toronto’s Ness Lee, Montreal sculptor Laurence Vallières, Canadian graffiti artist Bacon, and Irish contemporary artist MASER. Visitors can also look forward to a Hennessy mixology event and a party by artist collective Moonshine featuring Toronto and Montreal-based DJs spinning Afro electro, deep house, club, baile funk, coupé décalé, and more. Admission is free!
