What does femininity mean to you? In honour of International Womxn’s Day, join interdisciplinary art collective Posi Vibez and Feel Your Fantasy as they rescue the construct from the gender binary and celebrate the fact that there’s feminine energy in all of us at Feel Your Femme.
The evening will start off with a screening of Jamie Babbit’s 1999 film But I’m a Cheerleader, a satirical romantic comedy about a high school cheerleader (Natasha Lyonne) whose parents send her to a conversion therapy camp to “cure” her lesbianism. The screening will be followed by drag performances by Archie Maples and Dottie Dangerfield.
If you’re in the mood to dance, DJs LL Cool Wei and Vaughan will be serving up some top-notch sound selections late into the night for you to shake off the patriarchy to. (Be sure to stop by the on-site glitter station too!)
Feel Your Femme is happening at Handlebar (159 Augusta Ave.) this Thursday, March 7, from 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Admission is $8 at the door, or free if you serve a full drag look.
