From politics, to the arts, to academia, to the world of sports, public attention is focused on violence against women as never before. Next Friday January 30 (beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET), the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and YWCA Canada are offering a one-hour virtual classroom called Gender Matters, which teaches people how to create a safer and more compassionate society.
Gender Matters will feature Kim Katrin Crosby, a multidisciplinary artist and co-founder of the People Project; Farrah Khan, a nationally recognized speaker and educator on violence against women; and Jessica Bolduc, the Executive Director of the 4Rs Youth Movement for indigenous youth.
To register, visit NFB.ca/Education. The registration fee for the event is $40 CAD for CAMPUS subscribers and $50 CAD for non-subscribers. Registrants will have the chance to submit questions that may be addressed by panellists during the one-hour discussion. Questions must be submitted by January 26, 2015, to virtualclassroom@nfb.ca.
