Yoga is great no matter where you do it, but I feel like nothing beats holding those poses as the sun shines down on you and a cool breeze flows by. Serenity!
In celebration of the summer solstice on June 21, the inaugural OmT.O. brings you an entire day of free outdoor yoga classes in the Distillery District (55 Mill St.). From 10am to 6pm, head to one of Toronto’s coolest areas for an array of 40-minute classes offered at all levels and taught by yoga instructors from across the city.
Don’t have your own yoga mat? S’ok! For a suggested donation of $10 (though ultimately it’s pay-what-you-can), you can rent a Lululemon mat on-site. The money raised from donations will go to Colon Cancer Canada, so don’t be afraid to give! If you’d like to contribute a bigger sum, you can rent a mat for the morning ($300; five classes from 10am to 1:35pm), the afternoon ($400; six classes from 1:35pm to 6pm), or the whole day ($600; 11 classes from 10am to 6pm).
There will also be on-site vendors to check out, like Studio 2 Yoga, Eve’s Leaves, and Rosedale Wellness Centre. For a full class schedule, go here. Inspired by Mind Over Madness, a similar event that takes place in Times Square, OmT.O. is sure to be a great day of outdoor exercise and fun. In the sun. Get ready to sweat!
