This weekend, don’t miss NIIMI’IWE: Indigenous Dance Double Bill at Aki Studio.
NIIMI’IWE features light breaking broken, the personal journey of Margaret Grenier and Karen Jamieson, who use their distinctive dance styles to reconnect with language, culture and identity. This will be followed by the NDN way, where medicine, pipe ceremonies, sweat lodges and death are used as an “atmospheric departure point” for imagery, sound and movement.
The audience is invited to discover their own dark realities and light-filled truths through this performance by two accomplished dancers, Brian Solomon and Mariana Medellín-Meinke.
NIIMI’IWE runs from Thursday March 30 to Saturday April 1 at Aki Studio (250-585 Dundas Street E). Get your ticket here.
