Toronto film lovers—get ready! TIFF has announced 60+ films that you can see at the upcoming 2024 festival from September 5-15. The full lineup for the Gala and Special Presentations programmes was unveiled today, and this star-studded selection includes so many titles we can’t wait to see.

The Last Showgirl, directed by Gia Coppola, is one to look out for. Starring Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brenda Song, and Kiernan Shipka, the film follows a seasoned showgirl when her show suddenly closes after a 30-year run.

Another buzzy title to anticipate is the musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez. With a stellar cast of Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, and Karla Sofía Gascón, the film follows a lawyer who must help a feared cartel boss transition to a woman.

Other highlights announced today include Angelina Jolie’s Without Blood, a war drama written and directed by Jolie and starring Salma Hayek, and Andrea Arnold’s Bird, a family drama starring Barry Keoghan that had its world premiere at Cannes.

We’re also intrigued by the dystopian sci-fi thriller Can I Get A Witness? from Canadian filmmaker Ann Marie Fleming. Starring Sandra Oh, the film is set in a future where the world collectively agrees to end life at age 50 to erase poverty and save the planet.

Another women-led powerhouse film coming to the festival is The Fire Inside, the story of boxer Claressa “T-Rex” Shields, the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in the sport.

Previously announced TIFF titles include the festival’s opening night film, Nutcracker, and the closing night film, The Deb, a musical comedy and the directorial debut from Rebel Wilson.

Audiences can also look forward to Marielle Heller’s dark comedy Nightbitch, starring Amy Adams as a stay-at-home mom whose domestic life takes a surreal turn. Other big titles include The Shrouds, a new release from Canadian film icon David Cronenberg, and John Crowley’s deeply moving romance We Live in Time, starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield.

Big-name music documentaries are having a moment at TIFF this year— today’s announcement included world premieres of Piece by Piece (an animated journey through the life of Pharrell Williams), Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, and Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, joining the previously announced Elton John: Never Too Late at the festival in September.

Along with these four music icons, celebrities confirmed to be appearing at TIFF so far include Amy Adams, Riz Ahmed, Cate Blanchett, Will Ferrell, Alicia Vikander, and Robbie Williams. The red carpets will be hot this year!

We are a little over a month away from TIFF, and there is still more news to come! Stay tuned all week long for more film announcements in the festival’s Platform, Discovery, and Midnight Madness programmes. The official film schedule will be released on August 13.
