WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 5
7pm. Nouveau Palais’ First Birthday Party @ Nouveau Palais, 281 Bernard West. Our favourite Mile End “poutine-stitution” (I didn’t make that term up; I wish I did), Nouveau Palais is celebrating its first birthday on October 5! The festivities will include cake and late-night dancing courtesy of DJ JNNBNNRCK.
THURSDAY OCTOBER 6
8pm. Ladytron @ Telus Theatre, 1280 St-Denis. “They only want you when you’re seventeen, when you’re twenty-one, you’re no fun” – I heard that song once in a Club Monoco and I’ve been hooked every since. Ladytron’s latest album recently dropped, and it’s pretty damn great. They’ll be joined by Sonoio and VHS or Beta. $25.
8:30pm. Dear Dave: A Special One-Man Show with Dave Merheje @ Theatre Ste-Catherine, 264 Ste-Catherine East. Dave Merheje is known for his, ahem, multimedia stand-up performances, and has won multiple awards as a result. This show should be killer! After-party hosted by Percy Sledgehammer and friends. $10 in advance/for students, $15 at the door.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 7
7:30pm. Portishead @ Quais Jacques-Cartier, Montreal’s Old Port. Hosted in part by Igloofest (yes, that time of year is approaching), Portishead will finally grace a Montreal stage this Friday, touring for the first time in North America since 1998. $64.95. Don’t miss it!
10pm. Meat Market No. 3 @ The Royal Pheonix, 5788 St-Laurent. L.A.-based DJ Kyle Kalma and French producer/DJ Azamat B will spin all night: a great opportunity to see what the up-and-coming Royal Pheonix is all about. Kitchen open until 1am. $5.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 8
8:30pm. Ra Ra Riot + Dinosaur Bones @ Il Motore, 179 Jean-Talon West. New York indie rock group Ra Ra Riot are joined by Toronto’s Dinosaur Bones for an excellent night of tunes. $15. Tickets can be purchased here.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 9
10pm. Steve Aoki @ Club La Mouche, 1284 St-Denis. Holiday long-weekend = dancing hard on a Sunday night. American house producer Steve Aoki (like you haven’t heard of him, though) will be busting it all out for your Thanksgiving pleasure, all night long. $20.
