From 6:30pm. Igloofest @ Jacques-Cartier Quay in the Old Port. Arctic weather got you down? Thaw out AND thumb your nose at Ol’ Man Winter by dancing the night away at Igloofest, 4 weekends of wintry outdoor electro dance parties in the Old Port. This weekend, Igloofest’s second instalment, features France’s Miss Kittin (Thursday @ 8:30pm),  German duo Pan-Pot (Friday @ 10:30pm), my favourite Glasgow/Montreal collabo TNGHT (Saturday @ 9:30pm) and many more! 8pm. Wakey! Wakey! @ Le Cabaret du Mile End, 5240 Avenue du Parc. You loved him in One Tree Hill, now see actor/singer-songwriter Michael Grubbs’ adult alternative group Wakey! Wakey! at Mile End. With Andrew Johnston. $15.

8:30pm. The Whammies play Steve Lacy @ La Sala Rossa, 4848 St-Laurent. Featuring luminaries from the improvised music scenes in Boston, Chicago and the Netherlands, The Whammies is a new quintet devoted to the repertoire and musical spirit of the late soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy. This all-star line-up features dutch drummer Han Bennink, who worked extensively with Lacy in the 1970’s and 80’s, and Jorrit Dijkstra, who studied with Lacy just before his death in 2004. Violinist Mary Oliver joins the quintet for a selection of compositions and improvisations. Tickets $15/$17, available here.

10pm. Booty Bakery @ Le Belmont, 4483 St-Laurent. Indulge in the tempting delicacies of the Booty Bakery this Thursday, when Jaw Jam, Lexis, Hesk, Phil Sparkz and Compton Chic serve up hot n’ tasty dance treats. $5 before midnight, $8 after.
