Ballet and brunch are pretty much two of my favourite things, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard about an event that COMBINES THE TWO!
On Sunday, March 24, the Extension Room (30 Eastern Ave.) presents Midwinter’s Ballet Brunch—an afternoon that lets you take ballet class and then eat brunch. UM, HI!
From 10:00 to 11:30am, guests take an “Allegro Ballet Bootcamp Masterclass” taught by Extension Room owner Jennifer Nicholes. Then from 11:30am to 1:30pm, you get to sit down for a delicious brunch served by Herrera’s. But that’s not even the best part, you guys! While you’re eating your tasty food after a very satisfying workout, famed Globe and Mail/Dance Gazette dance critic Deirdre Kelly will read from her new book BALLERINA — Sex, Scandal and Suffering behind the Symbol of Perfection. AND Kelly will also be joined by professional ballerina Vanessa Harwood (a dancer featured in Kelly’s book) for an intimate Q&A; Harwood was a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Canada from 1970 to 1987.
Tickets are $45 (or $40 if you book with a friend) and can be purchased here.
All levels of ballet are welcome; you don’t need to have any dance experience to attend! Maybe you’ve always been curious about ballet but were too shy to try? Here’s your chance! You’ll be doing grand jetes all over the city before you know it.
