Could there be a more comforting food on earth than pierogies? HIGHLY DOUBTFUL. Thank god for this workshop where you can learn how to make them for yourself. You’ll be forever comforted!
Head to The Depanneur (1033a College St) this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. for a crash course in pierogi construction. In this fun, hands-on workshop, Maria Rozynska leads you through the process of kneading, rolling, filling, shaping and boiling homemade pierogies from scratch.
You’ll start the class with a warm borscht broth, then roll up your sleeves (literally) and dive into learning how to make several pierogies with fillings including farmers cheese with potato, savoury sauerkraut with mushroom and onion, and delicious dessert pierogies with sweet cherry filling. You’ll be treated to a few Polish folk songs sung by Maria herself as you work, and you’ll be able to taste the fruits of your labour before you leave.
