Art. Soccer. Art. World Cup. These are not two things I normally think of going together, however Chris Gardiner thought differently. He’s created a solo exhibition containing collages, drawings and sculptures, among other things, to celebrate the concept of “The Beautiful Game” at this year’s World Cup Soccer Tournament. The World Cup will be in South Africa, but this exhibition is much more doable, taking place in Junction hot spot Margret (2952 Dundas St. W).

If you haven’t been to Margret yet, this is a perfect opportunity to soak in the cool tunes and wall decorations everyone’s grandmother and every hipster would be envious of. Hilarious and inventive theme nights Tues-Sun (like Wu-Tang Wednesdays, holler) and bathrooms collaged with 80’s mags, this place is a jem (this statement is not meant to confuse readers with Davenport bar The Gem, which is also amazing).

So this Saturday June 12th, wear cleats, perhaps some knee socks, and even cute little athletic shorts if you want, and go check out “WCS 2010” at Margret! Chris Gardiner has his MFA Studio for Interrelated Media at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and is a Toronto DJ, and is a neighborhood advocate of the Junction. http://www.margretondundas.com/
