Tonight, May 5th, is the opening panel discussion for Hotel Gondolin, a photo exhibit that focuses on the lives of transgender sex workers in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Estefania D’Esperies spent eight months documenting the daily lives of Hotel Gondolin’s inhabitants, an often marginalized and misunderstood group. As part of the annual Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, the documentary series offers viewers a glimpse into the location and the women who carved out light in its dark corners. The project was published by Paripe III Books, Madrid in 2015 and has been exhibited in Europe and South America.

The panel will run from 7 to 8 and includes Estefania d’Esperies, Judy Virago (trans woman & advocate), Alexia Bréard-Anderson (Lexiquette) and Sydney Allen-Ash (Portrait.co). Stick around after the panel for drinks and take a close look at the provocative photography by world-renowned d’Esperies.

The exhibition runs from May 5th to May 31st at Huntclub Gallery on the 2nd floor of 1173A Dundas West. For more details, visit the Facebook page!
