HerStories, the speaker series and story-sharing platform that showcases personal narratives by women, is hosting their third event on Wednesday September 27.
For this edition, HerStories will be examining the complex question, are you living your life? Or is your life living you?
“Many of us go through life on autopilot—flying blindly into society’s plans for us…making lists and checking boxes, following the ‘shoulds’ and not the ‘what ifs.’” –HerStories
This concept of being on autopilot may sound familiar to a lot of women, but how do they reconcile these abstract notions? Enter the HerStories speaker series, which hopes to shed light on the common stories, struggles and virtues of womanhood. Ultimately, the idea is that by hearing stories similar to theirs, women can begin to feel less alone. HerStories wants to bring women closer to themselves and to each other.
With topics ranging from falling in love, to suffering from depression, rebuilding your life and being in toxic, abusive relationships, the speaker series includes Giovanni Marsico (Founder of Archangel), Stephanie Estima (Doctor of Chiropractic, Neuroscience Expert, Owner of The Health Loft), Maya Chivi (Author, Human Rights Advocate, TEDx Speaker), Catie Fenn (Soul Therapist, Founder of Goddess Life, Lawyer) and Samra Zafar (Alumni Governor of U of T, Founder of Brave Beginnings, TEDx Speaker).
The structure and format of their events is impeccable; we can’t think of a better way to inject some thoughtful inspiration, and introspection, into a very busy month.
