What do Stella McCartney, Commes des Garcons and now Jimmy Choo all have in common?
The answer is in every mall, and on every major and minor shopping street, in the universe.
It’s H&M of course, and to celebrate the launch of the Jimmy Choo for H&M line, the Swedish fashion behemoth had a behemoth of a fashion party last night in the glamorous depths of the Sunset Strip, where LA’s most exclusive got a sneak peak of the line. Like many of these hush-hush glitter-mafia H&M parties, it was held at a secret location in a Hollywood mansion overlooking the smoggy skyline of LA.
With a guest list that just screamed Hollywood party, attendees included the likes of the Hilton Sisters, Hayden Panettiere, and Kate Walsh, all dressed in head-to-toe black. Paris looked bleach blonde and pouty as ever in a slouchy romper belted at the waist. Hayden sported a sequin jacket and leather Jimmy Choo for H&M skinnies, which she went on to gush about to reporters. “I am in love with these pants…I was recently in Italy and instead of going to stores I went to H&M.”
While black is always the new black, it was a colourfully clad MIA who did it best on the red carpet. This time it was a shocking teal chiffon tunic with a giant cartoon shark adorning the front that did it. She traded this for a tribal-punk Jimmy Choo contraption when she performed her electro dance tracks later that night. The stage, true to LA style, was in the centre of a pool.
The Jimmy Choo for H&M line hits 200 stores globally on November 14th and features looks that Tamara Mellon, founder and president of Jimmy Choo, declares “embody the attitude and spirit of laid back party glamour.” Unfortunately, for this armchair cynic these words immediately conjure to mind the sleazy Terry Richardson Belvedere Vodka ads, but I guess we’ll see for ourselves when the line launches in two weeks.
The line up will most likely stretch to Siberia. See you there.
