With all of the suits, boobies, and bronzer milling about at Cheval on King Street waiting for the Rudsak show to begin, I realized that my red Harari blouse patterned with daisy chains of Asian babies might have not been the most inconspicuous wardrobe.
After moving past the sprightly door prize ladies ‘Fill it out to win a thousand dollars!’ ‘Do you wanna win a thousand dollars?’ I realized I was too foreign to the pre-11 crowd – or maybe just this one?! I threw back a lychee martini-though really I’m a dirty Gin girl -and tried to think positive. After shooting two precious fellows in Nome-de-Guerre specs and bowties, we decided to forsake the Rudsak show and hopped in Erin’s boat-sized Buick to get to MARO in Liberty Village where GSUS was in the house.
Boy oh boy, I am glad we did.
Joy to the world! We arrived just in time to see Lets Go To War kick-off the runway with an interactive performance that carried on while the GSUS models hop-scotched down the runway to the group’s killer beats, hot-stepping in glossy Adidas candy colored kicks in reds, blues, and neon greens- if skittles were shoes.
The clothes were fresh and the music was sick, even I started to bounce to the beat in my own awkward fashion (I never took electro hip-hop in dance school).
GSUS Sindustries’ plaid and patterned jackets, hoodies, tees, and tops paired with surfer-esque denim were big for the Fall/Winter ’09 line. Their pixilated patterns and b’sparkled threads are perfect for ringing in the warmth of a breezy summer eve, or kicking it on the golf course in bold graphics, suspenders, and style. Personally, I was into the silver metallic windbreaker…er…maybe it was the model wearing it.
In typical GSUS fashion, the sun kissed models did more than saunter the catwalk; the pretty boys and girls broke down to the glittery beats in bold brilliance, even grabbing the mic to rev the masses; at times, showing enough joie de vivre to bring the real Christ back for thirds!
The crowd was merry and seemed livened-in-dress by the week’s fashion… we even ran into sweater girl again- this time in another other-worldly creation (see Costume Cupboard)…I may be a good Jewish girl…but now I’m a GSUS freak…
