BBQ lovers rejoice! This Saturday (August 7) is National BBQ Day – that’s right, a WHOLE day dedicated to this quintessential summer activity. Not only is this the perfect excuse to gather up your friends for an afternoon of sippin’ beers and grillin’ meats and/or veggies, it’s also a day to raise awareness to a great cause.
National youth-run charity Meal Exchange is urging Canadians to use the holiday as a chance to shed light on hunger issues in Canada and to educate about the benefits of locally produced foods. To take part, register your BBQ on the National BBQ Day website – it’s free but donations are welcome. Each registration will also be entered in a draw for two WestJet tickets.
Head to your local market, stock your fridge full of beers, and grill for a cause! Is there a better way to spend a Saturday? Naw.
