Winter is coming, a fact that fills me with almost as much rage as the beheading of Ned Stark did before I read all of the Game of Thrones books and realized that the more characters get killed off, the more likely it is that George R.R. Martin will actually be able to finish the stupid series one day.
Now that I’ve successfully alienated most of our readers, on to business! The business of canning! That is, preserving delicious fresh foods to stock your pantry all winter long! Fresh City Farms is offering Canning 101 Workshops on Sunday Sept. 29th, Oct. 6th and Oct. 20th. The 90-minute workshops will teach you the basics of canning and preserving, so you’ll have the skills you need to create your own reserves of preserves. (I can do this all day.)
The workshops are held at the Member’s Kitchen at the Centre for Social Innovation at 585 Dundas St. E., and run at various times. The cost for the class is $65. You can sign up for the course on Uniiverse here.
