To celebrate the current exhibition, The Great Upheaval: Masterpieces from The Guggenheim Collection 1910 – 1918, the AGO will be offering complimentary tango lessons in the stunning Walker Court every Wednesday!
From January 8th until Jan 29th, you can learn the sultry moves of the classic dance that originated over a century ago in Argentina. How does this relate to the current exhibition? Tango gained momentum around the same time that artists like Marc Chagall, Marcel Duchamp, Vassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian and Pablo Picasso were making waves in Europe with their shocking abstract work and rather rebellious art manifestos. Both the art and the dance were groundbreaking, provocative and daring.
You don’t need to bring a dancing partner! The AGO has relayed that everyone who participates will find a partner! And partners change during the lesson so you will have the opportunity to dance with different people. Ooooh, could this be a much better option than speed dating? Definitely more sexy! But of course, you can attend with your loved one too.
Go back in time! Explore the artists who forever changed modern art! Learn to tango! And end the evening with a glass of vino at Frank. What a fabulous way to add some heat and passion to the coldest month of the year.
