For the past few months, the kids at Freedom School have been learning all about ballroom and Black LGBTQ resistance. Now, they’re set to launch their own Kiki house: The House of Freedom!
They’ve picked up tools and knowledge from the likes of Sebastiao D-s (voguing), Monroe SlimThick (body positivity), Venus (speech), Diseiye Thompson (fashion) and Phoxxi (runway). These workshops have sharpened their skills and they’re ready to battle! This is a family-centred event that’s wheelchair-accessible; snacks will be provided.
Event takes place this September 14 at Rose Avenue Junior Public School (675 Ontario Street). Entry is pay what you can or bring an item to donate to hurricane relief in Bahamas to cover entry. Get info here.
