(And while you’re down there, we challenge you to perfect your Boston accent, walk in the footsteps of Matt Damon from Good Will Hunting and track down the best chowdah on the Eastern Seaboard.)
Outside The Box Festival July 13 – 21st
The first annual performing arts festival will turn public spaces like the Boston Common and City Hall Plaza into performance spaces, with over 200 events showcasing the best of Boston and Massachusetts. Dance, installation art, music and comedy plus a Fork Lift Food Fest and SO MUCH MORE! The Outside The Box Festival is like Boston’s version of our Luminato fest. And it’s TOTALLY FREE!
Nantucket Comedy Festival July 17-20
Move fast enough and you could spend next week laughing in Nantucket! Highlights include a special evening dedicated to The Simpsons (!!!) and Comedy Smackdown: Boston vs. New York. FUN! You know that Louis C.K comes from here, right?
Lowell Folk Festival July 22 – 28
This is the largest folk festival in the US of A. The Lowell Folk Festival strives to present the very finest traditional artists from across the country. Festival stages reverberate with the sounds of traditional music more often heard in homes, social clubs, dance halls, and annual celebrations. Get down-home and sweaty with some of the best authentic blues, bluegrass, folk and soul in America.
Salem Jazz and Soul Festival August 17 – 18
There’s no denying that Americans have always done soul music way better than us! Eat good grub, dance on the street and then wander to discover Salem’s captivating and haunting history. (Have you watched The Crucible about the Salem Witch Trials in 1692? That’s your homework before taking this trip.)

Williamstown Theatre Festival ALL SUMMER LONG
All summer long this award-winning theatre in The Berkshires offers a stellar lineup of riveting performances. If we had to choose a time to go, we might very well visit between August 1 and 18th to catch The Bridges of Madison County. Do you remember sobbing to this film? A classic American story that will make you FEEL.
