The beloved Evergreen Brickworks Saturday Farmers Market is on hold indefinitely, to help flatten the curve—but you can still enjoy the fresh veggies, local cheese, and delicious artisan bread. “We know that now more than ever, we need to find new ways to connect and help our local food system stay strong,” a note from the organizers reads on Evergreen site.
Sounds DELICIOUS, and we love how the initiative will allow for Torontonians to continue to support the farmers who feed our city.
Info on their site explains how it works, including careful measures to ensure social distancing:
1) Boxes are filled with a selection of produce from local farmers.
A natural part of the local food economy, the produce listed is what Evergreen plans to offer each week, but are subject to change. With local food seasonality comes old favourites and something new for you to try with your newfound time at home!
2) Order your box through Shopify by signing up for a time slot.
The pre packed bags are $50, with the option for additional items while supplies last. Bags must be pre-ordered and paid for in advance through Shopify. There is no option for payment at pick-up. Proceeds go directly to our local food farmers, artisans, and supporting Evergreen’s food and market programs.
3) Pick up your box at Evergreen Brick Works.
The pick-up location will be in the Pavilions, where the outdoor Saturday Farmers Market is usually held. To limit the number of people at the pick-up location, a maximum of 25 order pick-ups are permitted every 30 minutes. Please help us limit the number of individuals by arriving at the pick-up location alone. Evergreen will have protocols in place at the pick-up location to ensure we all maintain recommended levels of social distancing.
Although announced less than 24 hours ago, the March 28th box is already sold out. If you want in on the April 4th one, check to see what’s in it, and place your order ASAP.
