Duy brought British class to Fashion Week with a collection that paid homage to heiress Daphne Guinness. The opulent, dramatic aesthetic captured her chic, elegant eroticism. Using luscious fabrics rich in texture and prepared delicately, the collection included diverse pieces from form-fitting dresses to sleek suits to voluminous overcoats. Dark hues and tones of purple highlighted only the least controversial aspects of Guinness’s style. This is the second time Duy has collaborated with Aldo on designing footwear for his runway show. By the end of this show, the hairspray from my free L’Oreal hairdo had gotten to my head. Hooray for free makeup and hairspray, but I’m still waiting on the pizza; Special K and Peroni doesn’t quite make a meal.
