If my father hadn’t met my mother, he would still be wearing the same pair of worn in Levi’s he was in when she met him…at least according to her. Thanks to mom, and fashion there are more varieties and styles of denim then one would have thought possible. Not only do we have different cuts and colors, but the weights and compositions of the classic jean are as varied as flavors in an ice cream shop. As a jean and tee shirt kind of gal… I have sampled many, if not all of them.
Whether or not denim is your casual Friday and weekend wardrobe only, or if you are in it 24/7, Dutil Denim should be on your list of goto Gastown spots. Dutil is one fine Denim shop. Opened in 2006, the all-denim store concept is a symbol of the evolution of fashion and how one classic item can produce such a varied product.
Owners Eric Dickstein and Darrin Kenigsberg are two incredibly savvy and passionate men, they see their shop as a community hub for fashion, that allows connecting directly with the consumer, and hearing wants and needs directly from the source – a denim soapbox if-you-will. The Dutil boys have taken next natural step for such an innovative and independent shop, which is to launch their own denim line, The Quintessential Series.
The Quintessential Series is so named because Dutil feels it will be offering to consumers their “go-to” jean; their new basic. “We wanted to make the perfect jean, and we felt it didn’t exist in the marketplace,” founder and creative director Eric Dickstein says. “We look at jeans all day long and we just thought we could do better than what we were seeing.”
Join Dutil this Friday evening as they launch The Quintessential Series with an in-store party on May 7th, 2010, at 8pm, 303 W. Cordova.
